What a contrast between this man of God who kept asking God “give me just one more. Just one more” wounded American soldier and those who since 1973 have been engaged in the killing of American unborn children, and what is worse is the fact that thousands of them perished at the hands of physicians employed by Adventist hospitals.
What a great opportunity to remember this amazing Adventist soldier by emulating his dedication to saving human lives from a sure death instead of profiting from the killing of the unborn. Desmond Doss dodged enemy bullets in his desperate effort to save those perishing; we profited from the genocide of the “least of these.” It is high time for our church leaders to do the following:
- Publicly acknowledge that it was wrong for our church to side with the enemy on this life and death issue.
- Ask God to forgive this terrible sin of our church.
- Get our medical facilities completely out of the abortion business.
- Void and discard a document known as “Guidelines on Abortion” which is still used by our Adventist Health System to justify the killing of innocent unborn babies under a variety of circumstances, including when an unwanted pregnancy affects the mental health of a woman. Mental depression is a temporary condition—abortion is permanent and irreversible.
It we do this, it will honor the memory of a great and valiant American Adventist soldier who got the Medal of Honor from President Trumann.
