Can our Church be Neutral on Moral Issues?

Recent events in the African country of Kenya forced out Adventist Church to make a moral decision, and our leadership decided to declare its neutrality on the issue of abortion, which is definitely a moral issue. So my question is: Can a church be neutral on morality? If a church decides to be neutral on morality, then what is its role in society? Is it to say: “We are neutral on sin, perversion, and murder? The Price I Paid for Two Books on Abortion

What price did I pay for two books on abortion? If I tell you the price I paid, you may have a hard time believing me. Of course, I am not referring to the purchase price of a couple of printed book, but rather the price I paid for the production cost of those two books starting with the preparatory work connected with said task, including the task or securing of a Ph.D. degree from a university. …

A New Book Dealing With Abortion & the Adventist Church

A. Why a Book About Abortion?

Perhaps you never heard about the first book I wrote about abortion and the Adventist Church. Why did I do that? What prompted me to invest hundreds and even thousands of hours to write about abortion? The answer is rather simple. There were already two books in print dealing with the topic authored by Adventist writers, but both of them were written in defense of the pro-choice/pro-abortion point of view. There was a desperate need to present the pro-life side of this issue to Adventist readers. …

Phil Kline 2

A sad day in America’s legal history

What took place on April 29, 2014 in Kansas was described by Tom Brejcha, the president of the Thomas More Society, as a “a sad day in America’s legal history,” because Phil Kline, an honest former Kansas State prosecutor, was denied the reinstatement of his law license.

What was Kline’s sin? He dared to prosecute the criminal behavior of the notorious late abortionist George Tiller of Wichita, Kansas, who was accused of “violating state abortion law and covering for pedophiles by not reporting pregnancies of underage girls.” The investigation of Planned Parenthood resulted in a 107-count criminal indictment, but unfortunately for Kline, Tiller had some good friends in high office.

One of them was former Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, who was selected by President Obama to preside over his Affordable Healthcare. Kline was unfairly deprived of his position as State attorney, his files were shredded, and his law license suspended. Kline filed an appeal to the Kansas Supreme Court, but the court refused to hear the case.

You might remember the case of Terri Schiavo who was starved to death for lack of food and water by order of the court. The picture of the ten year old boy who was arrested by the police for the crime of trying to give the dying woman a glass of water is still fresh in my mind.

Well, since then, there have been many similar cases with similar outcomes. So the question is: Is food and water extraordinary or basic care? Can relatives demand that a patient be deprived of food and water on the premise that water and nourishment represent extraordinary medical care? …

The Long Journey Towards the Eradication of Abortion in Adventism, by Nic Samojluk

The dream and prayer of all pro-life Adventists is that God will produce a revival and reformation among his chosen people and that his Holy Spirit will lead the Adventist Church out of the abortion business.

This may sound like a utopic dream, but for the Lord nothing is impossible. What follows is a summary of the main events connected with the Adventist Church involvement with the abortion business and the growing effort by those Adventists who believe in the dignity of human life and who are eager to move towards such a lofty goal.

This report is the result of countless number of hours by a large number of Adventists who love the church and who are also concerned about the suffering of the victims of this modern genocide, including the women affected by it. …

There are others who have shared their extreme views, but these two have been the most vocal in defense of the practice of abortion. CAN WE RELY ON THE ELECTIVE ABORTION INFORMATION COMING FROM THE GENERAL CONFERENCE?

The recent revelations made by Patricia Moleski, an Adventist whistleblower, regarding the criminal doctoring of hospital records at our Adventist Health System [AHS] forces us to wonder whether we can rely on the accuracy and reliability of the information coming out of the General Conference regarding what is taking place in our hospitals [GC].

If the president of the GC relies on the record kept by the AHS, and if such record is routinely altered by the deletion of adverse events taking place in our Adventist hospitals, then how can we trust on what the GC president says about anything connected with our medical institutions? When Does Human Life Begin?

For two thousands years both science and religion agreed that human life began from the moment of conception. This mutual understanding ended with the legalization of abortion in theUnited States back in 1973. Following this incredible event this harmonious view of human life ended and it was replaced by many confusing theories defending many points at which the developing unborn baby deserves to be protected: fertilization, implantation, viability, and birth. Can a Church be Neutral on Moral Issus?

Recent events in the African country of Kenya forced out Adventist Church to make a moral decision, and our leadership decided to declare its neutrality on the issue of abortion, which is definitely a moral issue. So my question is: Can a church be neutral on morality? If a church decides to be neutral on morality, then what is its role in society? Is it to say: “We are neutral on sin, perversion, and murder? More: ===>

Seventh-Day Adventists and abortion.

The following article was published by the Washington Post magazine on the 38h anniversary of Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision which legalized the killing of the unborn in all the states of theUnion. As far as I know, the Adventist Church has not done anything to negate the facts alluded to in said report.

“Christians of all denominations are gathering on the National Mall today to protest the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide. But one denomination that may be sparsely represented is Seventh-day Adventists whose large worldwide network of 170 hospitals allows elective abortions. More: ===>

The God Given Right to Choose.

After years of blogging with Adventists on the “Club Adventist” forum about abortion, I have discovered that no matter what argument I use in defense of the unborn’s right to life, those who oppose my views end with the following entrenched position:

“Abortion is wrong, but women should have the right to choose!”

So let me see if we can apply the same policy to other areas of our moral behavior: More: ===>

Investigation into our Adventist involvement with the Abortion Industry.

Following the publication of my book dealing with abortion and theAdventistChurch, I have received many requests for information regarding the number of abortions performed in our Adventist hospitals. I wish I could provide the exact number of such procedures for each Adventist U.S. hospital from 1970—the year our Adventist hospitals were allowed to offer elective abortions to their patients–up to the present. Unfortunately such statistics are not readily available to investigators. I am ready to share some of what I was able to secure from Adventist and non-Adventist sources, plus an estimate of what might be the best guess based on those statistics. More: ===>

The Stork Van Project to Save Unborn Babies.

There is a new way of saving babies in Dallas, Texas, which is promoted by kids, and it promises to alter the way women faced with an unwanted pregnancy will be helped without the need of ugly pictures of aborted babies displayed in front of abortion clinics and without hell fire warnings shouted by angry looking pro-lifers. Here is the amazing story written by Kristen Walker: More:===>

A Book Every Adventist Should Read

A few weeks ago as I was talking with a retired university professor and evangelist whom I greatly admire for his dedication to the Adventist mission, I was surprised by the following comment he made: “Every Adventist should read this book.”  Was he referring to the Bible? No, since most Adventists are reading or have already read the Bible. More: ===>

Things I Learned in Graduate School

I have in my personal library a well known book authored by Robert Fulghum entitled All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. I could not make such a claim because my parents did not enroll me in such a place. This is why I have opted to rather talk about what I learned in graduate school about abortion and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. These things I learned as the result of the topic I chos for my doctoral dissertation entitled: From Pro-life to Pro-choice: The Dramatic Shift in Seventh-day Adventists’ Attitudes Towards Abortion. Arguing with a Pro-choice/pro/abortion blogger.

One of my hobbies is to argue with pro-choice Adventists who believe that there is nothing wrong with supporting all or some of the views of pro-choice individuals. Personally, I can’t see how true Adventists can do this and still continue to claim that we are the “Remnant” Church of God, which—according to the book of Revelation—keep the Commandments of God. Here is the response I posted yesterday to the arguments used by a blogger named Overaged: More: ===>

An Appeal to a Pro-choice Adventist.

For several years I have been rather active in the blogging hobby. I do enjoy exchanging views with other, and I have discovered that I can learn sometimes more from those who differ from my personal view simply because they quite often they force me to think more critically and thus be able to strengthen some weak point in my thinking. I would like to share with you a response I posted in answer to some arguments of a pro-choice blogger named ClubV12: More: ===>

The Right to Kill.

A. Killing the Guilty

Some years ago the then U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft announced that he might “consider seeking the death penalty for Robert Hanssen, a former FBI agent” charged with the crime of passing extremely sensitive documents to Russia. Did Ashcroft have the right to take the life of another human being? As an individual, he did not possess said right, but, invested with the authority society had granted him, he did have the legal right to seek this “ultimate sanction” against one who had compromised the security of our American personnel, whose life might have been placed in jeopardy as a result of said treasonous action. … More: ===>

Hearing my child’s heartbeat for the first time.

“I can still remember that sound as if I was listening to it now. It pierced my heart when I heard it for the first time on September 26, 2006. It resonated in my ears and took hold of my heart like few things can. This Monday I get to hear that sound for the fourth time. A little nervous with anticipation, this day is one of the most exciting in the life of this husband and father. I get to hear the heartbeat of our child as he (or maybe she?) grows within the womb of my wife. More:===>

A Truly Pro-life Adventist Pastor.

Some years ago a friend of mine asked his Adventist pastor how come he never preached about abortion, to which he responded: “If I did that, some of my members might be offended.” Can you imagine John the Baptist or any of the Old Testament prophets giving an answer like that? These men of God were not afraid to preach against immorality and sin, and many of them paid with their lives for doing their sacred duty.

Have you ever heard a sermon in an Adventist church about the evil of unborn child killing? If you did, it must have taken place either a long time ago, or else perhaps in a church located in another continent, but not inNorth America. Nevertheless, believe it or not, there is an Adventist pastor who did just that, and he wrote to me about this experience. Here is what he said: More:===>

Can Abortion be a Blessing?

I received from Pastor Barry Kimbrough a link to a speech by Rev. Dr. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale delivered at an abortion rally held in Birmingham Alabama in which she argued that abortion is in fact a blessing. I am quoting her own words followed by my personal response to her arguments and strange reasoning in defense of what Scripture considers to be plain murder. Here is what she said:

Speech by Dr. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale

“I said, in BirminghamAlabama, at a rally at the end of the successful clinic defense, that we do ourselves a self-destructive disservice when we talk about abortion as a tragedy. More:===>

  1. Please help us stop the legalization of abortion in the Republic of Mauritius by signing the petition, the bill is being presented to Parliament at the moment and we need as many signatures as possible. You do not have to be a Mauritian or live in Mauritius to sign. Thank you.
